Exactly one year Heracles was resting. He competed in running and arrows shooting with young Myconeans, until the Lord sent him to the Erymanth mountain to capture the big boar, which devastated the crops and vineyards. The Lord demanded this boar alive.

The task itself was not difficult but the way to this mountain passed through the lands of militant centaurs. That is why Heracles went first to the friendly centaur, which hearty welcomed and entertained him, gave him wine. Centaurs smelled wine and came up to the hero, threatening him. There was no possibility for Heracles to avoid the fight. Heracles even used his poisoned arrows. One of them stroke that hospitable centaur. Heracles put all centaurs to death and went on his way. Having reached the goal he drove the boar high in mountains and captured him there. It was not really difficult. When Heracles brought his prey to the palace, the Lord hided in a big bronze vessel and did not want to get out of there until the boar was killed.
