A new task of Heracles was to find the giant Geryon and drive home his red cows. This monster lived in the Ocean; it had three bodies and three heads. Heracles crossed the sea, reached Crete, moved to Africa and here came to Lybia. Another giant, son of Hera lived here. Each of the strangers he challenged to fight. No one has won yet. It was clearly demonstrated by numerous skulls and bones close to his habitation. If even any of strangers managed to lay down on the earth this giant, the latter anyway beat them because as soon as he touched the earth he started deriving strength from it. During the fight Heracles guessed this point about the monster, so he raised this giant up and suffocated him. After it Heracles went on with his voyage along the seashore further to the West. Thus he reached the place where Europe and Africa are nearly contiguous. There is only narrow sea channel between them. To immortalize the memory of himself Heracles erected two big columns on both coasts of the channel. These columns were called and now are called Columns of Heracles. It took much time of Heracles to reach the Island Geryon. In the sands of Lybia it was so hot that one day Heracles aimed his bow at god of Sun and the latter, astonished at Heracles's spirit gave him his own canoe, in which this God was crossing the sky from the West to the East to start a new day from the East. Thus Heracles reached the necessary island. Here he killed a giant and his two-head dog, which looked after the herds. Heracles decided to take this cattle home but Geryon saw it and challenged Heracles to fight. Our hero won this struggle as well as the others and continued his way home. God of sun gave him his boat again and Heracles brought cows to the dry-land. On the way through Pyrenean Mountains and the Alps an accident took place: Hera sent myriads of horse-flies and some of cows were lost.
Heracles was very tired when he came home with the herd and dreamt of resting he thought that was indicated to serve until he makes 10 labours, he did them and hoped that was for that moment cleared up from his sins. But the Lord rejected admitting his 2 feat as he performed them with the certain assistance (destroying of Hydra and Cleaning of Stables are meant). That is why Heracles had to stay for some longer and to make another 2 labours. The lord was thinking about new tasks for long, as he wanted them to be very difficult.
