The more labours Heracles was managing, the angrier the Lord was getting and the more difficult tasks he was contriving. One day the Lord got an idea that Heracles should go to the King Diomedes and obtain his horses. These horses had wonderful power and ungovernable character. They ate only human flesh and were chained in the stables with iron shackles. When a stranger came to this land, servants of the king caught him and threw in the stables for the horses to eat him. But it did not frighten Heracles. He conquered King's warrior and the King himself. Diomedes suffered the same fate as he prepared for others: Heracles threw him to the horses and they ate the King. After the punishment Heracles drove horses home. The Lord wanted to dedicate these horses to Hera, but animals had other plans: they escaped and were lacerated by Zeus's bulls.
